How to Make the Touch Keyboard Appear Automatically in Windows 10/11

This guide explains how to enable the Windows touch keyboard so it automatically appears when tapping text fields, especially when using tablet mode or devices without a physical keyboard attached.


Windows 11 Instructions

Step 1: Open Settings

  • Press Windows Key + I
  • Or open the Start Menu and select Settings

Step 2: Navigate to Typing Settings

  • Go to:
    • Time & Language > Typing
    • or Bluetooth & Devices > Typing (depending on Windows version)

Step 3: Configure Touch Keyboard

  • Expand the Touch Keyboard section
  • Enable:
    • Show the touch keyboard when there's no keyboard attached

This will make the touch keyboard automatically appear when selecting text fields.
